Marcus I meets aDUBta - Taste Of Love / Taste Of Dub 7"
SKU: AB076 OverviewDescription:
After setting the tone with „Longtime Warrior“,
multi-instrumentalist and producer aDUBta once again joins
forces with singer Marcus I for their second single.
Originally from Cantabria / Spain and now based in France, Marcus I
has carved out his own path in the European Reggae scene
through collaborations with Pinnacle Sound, Al Breadwinner or
Dub Shepherds. A true devotee of the vintage sound, his voice
and lyrics carry the timeless spirit of Reggae music.
Hailing from Bavaria / Germany, aDUBta has spent more than two
decades building a reputation as a versatile musician and
producer within both the German and international Reggae community.
His releases on respected labels such as Oneness Records,
Hornin’ Sounds or F-Spot Records underline his dedication to
that Jamaican sound from the 60s and 70s in its most authentic
form. Together with the ever-evolving Black Oak Roots
Allstars, they continue to create music that bridges tradition
and originality.
“Taste of Love” was born in a late-night session at Attic Roots
Studio on Lake Ammersee. With King HuHa (aka Mauricio-Jorán Ceseña)
on rhythm- and lead guitar, Jannis “Skankin’ Klenk” Klenke on
bass and flexatone and aDUBta on drums and piano, a simple guitar
phrase grew into a riddim at once familiar and timeless.
Months later, during a vocal session with Marcus I, the track was
still little more than a sketch. Initially unsure whether he
even wanted to record it, Marcus only agreed after King HuHa’s
steady encouragement — and at the very last moment. On the
morning of his return to France, Marcus walked into the studio
and announced: “I’ve finished writing it. We need to record it
quickly, I have to catch my train.”
The lyrics capture a melancholic longing for a love that never was.
It’s a song for all those who, at some point in their lives,
met someone who remained only as a memory of the past
- someone they still wonder about today: where they might
be, how they might be doing, and what life could have been
like if they had been together. Nearly two years after that
fleeting session, the track finally lives on in wax, paired with a
dubwise version that reveals yet another layer of depth. As
King HuHa knew from the start: “This one’s a hit!”
Drop the needle, turn it up — and taste the love.
