Rupie Edwards All Stars - Jamaica Serenade 7"
SKU: HRV112 OverviewDescription:
Rupie Edwards was one of Jamaica's most prominent producers,
putting out many a hit on his label 'Success,' including the big
hit 'Ire Feelings' which had significant chart success in the UK
!
Horus Records is proud to present here two lesser known cuts
produced by Rupie, first 'Rise And Fall' which was recorded and
dubbed by Lee "Scratch" Perry at the infamous Black Ark studio in
1975. Mellow yet heavy, with a deep thunderous bass accompanying
Rupie's equally deep and husky baritone.
The other single we present here for your pleasure is 'Jamaica
Serenade,' an incredibly scarce 7" that is almost impossible to
find. The Rupie Edwards All Stars are fronted by Marques on the
Alto Sax, lo-fi reverb wonder! This track is also interesting as
Rupie is playing the guitar, the bass and the drums - though
hitting the kick with his hand holding a beater! We believe this is
also from 1975 , though we can't be sure!
