Description:
Rudy Mill's only album is without any discussion one of the
highlights in the history of rock steady music. With his beautiful
voice, Rudy Mills manages to blend rock steady, early reggae and
soul into one album. His 1969 album is in high demand by rock
steady and reggae collectors around the globe and the original
Jamaican and English pressings are changing hands for hundreds of
euros. A reissue was therefore inevitable.
Although Rudy stayed out of the music industry for a long time, his
fame continued to grow. Over the years, his single 'John Jones'
appeared on nearly thirty international compilation albums and was
also featured in the BBC series ‘Plebs’.
In 2024 we - in collaboration with Rudy Mills himself - released a
reissue of his 'Reggae Hits' album for the first time and within a
few months our pressing had sold out. Whilst the original pressing
contained ten tracks, we have added two bonus tracks. This means
that all the tracks Rudy recorded with producer Derrick Harriott
are finally available on a single LP.
For this album, we have made use of the original master tapes where
available. It also includes an 8-page booklet featuring numerous
photographs and illustrations, as well as very extensive liner
notes by Dr Buster Dynamite.
