Description:
From 1980 to 1983, Bad Manners were barely out of the UK charts.
They spent 111 weeks in the charts in that time and scored nine Top
40 hits, capturing the nation’s hearts with their frequent, and
memorable performances on Top of the Pops. Towards the end of the
1980s, the Bad Manners hit machine had dried up and in 1988 the
band released the 'Eat The Beat' album with rarities and unreleased
recordings including the Symarip cover 'Skinhead Girl'.
In 1989, the Skinhead Luv-A-Fair album was released and credited to
Buster’s All Stars. The album featured a mixture of cover versions
and original material. Among the cover versions was again the song
'Skinhead Girl', a brilliant reworking of the track originally
written by Monty Neysmith and Roy Ellis for Symarip back in 1969.
Twenty years on, Buster’s crew sprinkled their own ska-soaked magic
on it and it was added to the band’s live set.
During the same era the band recorded various tracks with the
popular UK ska vocalist Verona Davis of The Deltones fame, which
lead to the 'Gonna Get Along Without You Now' single in 1989.
Another song they recorded was 'Skinhead Boy', which has remained
on the shelf, bar the odd release on compilation CDs, ever since.
The song 'Skinhead Boy' is now available on vinyl for the very
first time. The single is packed in a fold out sleeve with liner
notes by Lee Morris, author of the widely positive acclaimed book
'2 Tone: Before, During & After'.
