Stranger Cole And Patsy - Dusty Brown 7"
SKU: AB073 OverviewRELEASE DATE: 13th of June 2025
Description:
There are very little ska & reggae artists who have such a longstanding and impressive career as Stranger Cole. Stranger Cole (born in 1942 as Wilburn Theodore Cole) was part of the first wave of Jamaican ska music and his earliest recordings date back to 1961 when he recorded for iconic producers as Duke Reid and Prince Buster. In 1968 he recorded the track 'Bangarang' with Lester Sterling for producer Bunny 'Striker' Lee, that song is often designated as the first ever reggae song.
Despite his imposing status, Stranger Cole never felt the need to rest on his laurels and over the years he consistently continued to record new albums and tour. A new album is planned for later this year, together with Dutch singer Patsy. The album will be called 'Royal' and features 11 new compositions and is produced by Boss Capone, with whom Patsy previously recorded the album 'Kings And Queens' (Aggrobeat 2023).
Ahead of the new album, the single 'Dusty Brown' will be released, a typical ska song harking back to the Jamaican ska tradition of the early 60s. The B side features the exclusive track 'A Thing Called Love'.
