aDUBta, a multi-instrumentalist and producer from Bavaria (Germany)
has been an active force in the German and international Reggae
scene for over 20 years. Working closely with the rotating
collective Black Oak Roots Allstars - a group of talented musicians
including Mauricio-Joran Ceseña, Jannis Klenke and Johannes Beck -
he has released music on notable labels such as Oneness Records,
Hornin’ Sounds and F-Spot Records. In addition to collaborating
with esteemed artists like Ranking Joe, Cedric "Congo" Myton, Vin
Gordon or Earl Sixteen, since 2022, aDUBta has developed a highly
productive partnership with singer Marcus I.
Marcus I, originally from Cantabria (Spain) and now based in
France, has earned recognition in the Roots-Reggae scene through
releases with Pinnacle Sound, Al Breadwinner or West Finga. Known
for his tireless work ethic and dedication, Marcus I is a key
figure in the European Vintage-Reggae scene. His collaboration with
aDUBta has been a meeting of like-minded artists, driven by a
shared passion for authentic Roots sounds.
One of the many fruitful results of the collaboration between
aDUBta and Marcus I is the track "Longtime Warrior“. The song was
inspired by a heartfelt reunion between Marcus I and Juanra Gómez,
the singer of his first Ska band Komando Kokilla (2002), where
Marcus played trumpet alongside his longtime musical companion Viti
Sanchez. Seeing that his old friend had stayed true to his style
and principles over the years - still sporting his shaved head and
boots - left a deep impression on Marcus I, inspiring him to pen
this tribute to all the longtime warriors out there. This
release is a celebration of enduring musical camaraderie,
authenticity and the unstoppable spirit of Reggae's longtime
warriors.
